Among the best features of Android Wear, such as the ease of texting and answering calls, I was hyped to be able to use music voice controls "play [song] by [artist]" and have it come to life on my HTC M8 without shuffling around thousands of tracks. Though I do understand Android Wear and Google voice commands are in their infancy.

So I got my Moto 360 and consequently spent hours wrestling with the default music app on my phone not playing songs when prompted by Google Now - just displaying a search result within the app with an incorrect tag from Google. Sometimes Google Now on my phone will play the song, and then the exact same command in my watch will just load a google internet search result. Then I repeat the EXACT same command and this time it loads the app...

An annoying tick is that you must be connected to the internet through mobile data or WiFi for this to work. It seems that google now gets tag information from the internet and sometimes it finds the incorrect tag which causes problems. If you say "play [song]" it will attempt to input "[song] (2014 Ultra Dance RemiXXX)" into your music app, which obviously won't return a result. I wish it would just search your words within the app.

With the Google Music App I kept getting a "Couldn't prepare instant mix" toast. According to some googling around, that issue can only be fixed by uploading all of your music to your google account, for which you need to enter a credit card number "to verify your region". Yeah right. It's convoluted.

Shuttle was no help, it just pops open and does not play.

RocketPlayer doesn't even appear as an option for Google Now.

So far doubleTwist and PowerAmp are the only apps that loaded a song from the voice controls. But sometimes you need to close the app entirely to load another song by voice command. Some songs load when I use Google Now on my phone, but then don't work when I speak the exact same command into my watch.

I keep all my songs on my phone storage in .flac format.

I wish it would just load the album and play from the track number of the song.

So do you use voice commands to play songs? What app do you use and have you experienced any errors? I wonder if this is something that will be smoothed out with future updates. I would appreciate some community feedback to see what everybody is using.
