So, as a first time smart watch user, Im wondering what I should know before buying the Gear Live... Any major cons to think about when it comes to the device itself?

Out of curiosity, if I left my phone at home, would my watch still function (obviously, to the best of its abilities without being tethered to my phone) . Would it be a drain on the battery life of my Galaxy Note 2?

One more question (of many!) I know the Gear Live is water proof but how effective is its water proofing? Could it take regular splashes of water? To the point of keeping it on when washing up etc (not that its likely to get that wet in this scenario anyway, but you never know lol) .
